Peter
The Ship Tavern | 57y
Peter grew up in Northern Ireland and moved to Yorkshire in his teens to work in the gas and steelworks. As jobs became more and more scarce he moved down to London with its allure of work and prosperity.
After a few years in the hospitality industry, he started working in a pub run by the Evans family and, 57 years later, still pops in to The Ship Tavern in Holborn every week to polish the brass and do other odd-jobs. The Ship is currently run by Ross Evans, the grandson of Peter’s original boss, and Peter remembers taking Ross to play in Regent’s Park when he was a boy.
